The Looney for Kentucky Values & Stances

  • Taxes, Wages, and being Pro-Union

As a democratic candidate, I advocate for a fair and equitable income-based tax system. This means ensuring that the wealthy pay their fair share, helping to strengthen and support our communities through transparent taxation.

I believe it's past time to raise the minimum wage. When working people succeed, the entire economy flourishes. Raising the minimum wage would directly benefit many Kentuckians, stimulating local economies and reducing poverty.

I believe in the power of organized labor that supports worker’s rights. Unions improve working conditions, ensures fair wages, and secures health & retirement benefits. Looney for Kentucky supports labor movements, fair labor laws, and the idea that workers should have a strong voice in negotiating with employers.

  • Healthcare, Abortion, and the LGBT+ Community

As a nurse practitioner, I believe in affordable and equitable healthcare for all Kentuckians. Strengthening Medicaid & Medicare services for our disabled and elderly is essential in providing healthcare for all.

I also support health concepts surrounding reproductive rights; recognizing that abortion is a necessary option for individuals to protect physical and mental health. I support bodily autonomy and believe that making abortion illegal is an overreach of government power because it infringes on a person's right to make private, personal decisions about their own body and healthcare.

The Looney for Kentucky campaign stands firmly for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, advocating for comprehensive healthcare that meets the unique needs of all individuals, regardless of gender or sexual orientation. Everyone deserves access to the care they need to live healthy, fulfilling lives without interference or discrimination.

  • Public Education, Post-Secondary Education, and Housing

As a person who received public school education, I am committed to strengthening public education across the state. Every child in Kentucky deserves access to quality education, regardless of their background or where they live. By fully funding public schools and supporting our teachers, we can ensure that all students have the tools they need to succeed and thrive in the future.

As somebody who benefited from a federal Pell Grant, I believe that post-secondary education should be accessible to all Kentuckians. This means making college, vocational training, and apprenticeships more affordable, reducing student debt, and creating pathways for students to succeed in their chosen careers. By investing in post-secondary education, we’re investing in the future of Kentucky’s workforce and economy.

As a millennial, I recognize that affordable housing is a critical issue for many Kentuckians. We must work to ensure that everyone has access to safe, affordable housing, whether through expanded affordable housing programs, rent control measures, or supporting local communities in developing housing solutions. A stable home is the foundation of a strong, thriving community, and it’s essential to Kentucky’s long-term growth and prosperity.
